Binge-watched the entire season in 3 days! It was really amazing! I would rate it 10 out of 10.
Great talented performances from all cast members! As for the story, I saw it as a fiction based on real historical events that took place between 1977 and 1990 when Margaret Thatcher was the Prime Minister.
Margaret Thatcher played by Gillian Anderson was really amazing!
I actually did like many of her conservative views although I also understood the Queen's point of view.
One thing for sure, they both were really dutiful responsible women who worked seriously for their country with honor and dignity...and the Queen is still doing so now.
This Season was extremely entertaining. Some parts were very upsetting and emotional (especially the stories regarding to Princess Diana.) but all the episodes were absolutely splendid!
Though I hate to see some delusional Netflix watchers taking everything as “facts” and start attacking the actual Royals. Morons! It’s pathetic. Leave them alone and move on!
What Netflix should have done was to put a Warning that this was a fiction based on historical events and everything we see did not mean TRUTH. Netflix (which is extreme liberal) had the time to put warning about eating disorder and yet they did not put warning that this was a fiction. They should have put a warning for the not-so-bright people out there!!
To be honest, if I put myself in the perspective from the actual living Royals, I might not be very supporting about this whole TV series... I mean... they are actual living people!!
The story of actual living humans!!! Isn't it too much? Is this the fate of Royals? Shouldn't their private lives be respected just like all of us? I feel really bad for all of them especially Prince William, Prince Charles, Duchess Camila and all the family members.
Maybe they don't care at all !
But if I were them, I would never ever want my own private story to be on TV shows or movies...
But again... I'm not Royal and I don't have strong mentality as them... God bless them all.
Though this season might be very controversial, I myself took it as one excellent piece of fiction!
Unfortunately not all viewers have the simple ability to differentiate non-fiction and fiction.
Some shallow minded crazy people even put real life modern USA liberal standard in to Game of Thrones and criticized the culture and tradition of medieval fantasy!!!
Pathetic.
So for those kind of not-very-bright radical left people, how do they see The Crown?
Well, especially The Crown Series have always been based on real historical events...
So of course harder for them to differentiate what actually did happen (only the real royals know) and what were portrayed in the show.
Well, anyway, I hope people don't take everything as REAL though I also do know that some things were actually true. I mean... it was true that the late Princess Diana suffered from eating disorder. It was true that she had really sad marriage (and so was Prince Charles.)
Another thing which is 100% REAL was the blood sport...
I hate to criticize other tradition and culture and I would like to respect that... but I have to say... hunting or stalking or whatever, that is not my thing.
Leave the animals alone !!!
That's my belief... yet I do not want to judge or criticize other tradition.
Just that I would never do it even if my friends ask me to join.
nah... you can go ahead and do it but I won't.
In this season, the characters are all so interesting!
Yes, like I said before this season portrayed actual living real members of the Royal family.
I, myself always have strong admiration for British Royals especially Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip.
In real life, they are amazing.
In this season 4, they are amazing too!!
I really admire the strength of Prince Phillip. He is really the Queen's confidante and strength.
So for me, The Crown has always been my favorite series after GoT.
In this season 4, I really felt so sad for Princess Diana.
However, I also felt that Prince Charles was really suffering because he could not be with his one true love.
(I’m glad in real life they are together now.)
See, I actually don’t support affairs outside marriage and in fact I really hate it.
However when it comes to them, they have known each other long before the royal marriage and Camila was his confidante and strength just like how Prince Phillip were to the Queen.
Basically they were soul mates that meant to be together.
Due to the rules of the Royals, they were not able to get married.
They were forced to break up and then much later, he met Princess Diana...
Princess Diana passed all the test as the wife of Prince Charles.
That was the beginning of another sad love story.
Prince Charles and Camila's story was already sad enough ( in season 3), and then there came another really sad love story...
In this season 4, the saddest part was that Princess Diana actually really loved Prince Charles...
She loved him so much... She loved her children so much. She knew Charles was not happy and she wanted to make her husband happy because she loved him.
She wanted to be part of the family.
She wanted Queen Elizabeth to be her mother. She wanted to be the team!!
She just wanted a happy family!!
Her effort really made me cry...
What was worse was that Prince Charles really loved Camila.
He was not playing or having affairs with bunch of random women. Only Camila.
That hurt Diana the most.
Unrequited love to the Prince...
Also how Prince Charles treated his legal wife Princess Diana was horrible.
(Not sure he was actually like that to princess Diana so I still see it as fiction though)
Prince Charles and Camila met long time before Prince Charles met Diana.
They were not able to get married even though Camila was also from aristocrat family.
The Royals didn't mind Charles to have Camia as a girlfriend or a mistress but not wife.
The Royals wanted Charles to wed someone with the highest aristocratic background, someone like Diana...
So basically it was kind of arranged marriage.
Arranged marriage was fine back then. I still think it's fine now ONLY if both the husband and wife agree with it as an arranged marriage and respect each other. They need to contribute to the marriage. (Not in the case of Princess Diana and Prince Charles though... First of all Princess Diana did not see it as arranged marriage. She really loved Charles from the very beginning.)
But anyway... I have seen many arranged marriages worked out so much better than normal modern freedom marriage. Arranged marriage always comes with duty to the family. If both party work hard enough, there come trust and love. Yes, Trust and love would be built which I actually believe it could be much stronger than just simple love between two people.
Marriage is not also about two people but about two families.
My family shares that same value as well although we don't really do arranged marriage anymore. We are kindda freedom in that sense. Not getting married at all is also totally fine in my family. That's even better than marrying someone not suitable for my family.
We are not Royal of course. Just normal common family that has respectable family history with honorable ancestors.
That's why I would never marry anyone my parents disapprove and I feel strong pride in it since I respect my parents and have honor to be part of my great family. But yah... the thing is that I don't think every people need to get married so I love to stay as a single even though I have a boyfriend that my parents adore.
But anyway marriage is really not just about two people.
So I see Prince Charles's struggle...
How he wanted to satisfied the wish of his family (his great-uncle especially), yet he still could not let Camila go.
His love was so strong yet he thought everybody would be happy if he just married Diana.
So he made a mistake by marrying her.
They came to love and respect each other at one point (kind of romantic) but things did not work out long.
They were like oil and water. Never mixed.
They basically couldn't even be friends or duty-partners!!
Princess Diana worked so hard yet Prince Charles was never happy.
His frustration that he could not marry Camila grew stronger.
He wanted to divorce his loving wife and married his ex girlfriend Camila who already had two kids and married to another aristocrat!
See... if today, Charles treated his wife with kindness and gave her freedom to do whatever she wanted while he also kept his own mistress... maybe it would turn out fine. I have seen several families like that.
Basically some wives just don't give a fuck about husband's love life as long as they get money or freedom or whatever they wish... and sometimes that can work out very fine! Not all humans are so love-blind and they have better things to do.
However in this show, Charles did not even do that. He was selfish and he hoped Diana failed so he could divorce her!
( I don't know if real Prince Charles was like that or not... The Crown is Fiction after all)
So in this show, how he treated Diana made me feel very sad...
Yet fairytale does not really exist.
Reality is hush.
The reason I actually dislike Disney Princess Stories since I was small was because I really thought of those stories as delusional, fake and stupid. Nothing to learn from them. No lessons taught.
Live happily ever after... my ass...
Always stupid Princess portrayed as the victim and handsome prince or some godmother fairy would save her from evil witch or queen...Also funny that most of the time, the prince did not even know the princess that well. Just fell in love because she was the beautiful princess... and soon got married. Road to bad marriage when you didn't know the person well enough!!!
I mean... what the fuck.
Also why always Hero VS Villain.
Real humans are much more complex and complicated and every humans have multiple sides.
I know very well that some people don't want to see hush cruel reality IN fiction so that's fine. It's totally ok to like those kindda lalaland stories. Personal preference. But for me, I PERSONALLY prefer stories that have complex characters.
So yah... in The Crown, the marriage of Prince Charles and Princess Diana was very complex and sad.
I also felt something when Camila talked about the "fairy tale and victim" thing though... I mean... so true.... SO TRUE...
One interesting episode was this episode called “Favorite child”.
That was really interesting too.
I guess to be honest, including my parents, most parents have their favorites. You cannot blame them.
Parents are humans too.
So in Season 4, Margaret Thatcher's twins actually reminded me of Cersei and Jaime in GoT (not the incest part. Mrs. Thatcher's twins were in fact not that close...) They reminded me in a sense that how Tywin really favored Jaime over Cersei too obviously. SAD...
Mrs. Thatcher was of course not cruel like Tywin though.
She also had loving husband who loved their daughter.
Talking about Lord Tywin...
Charles Dance did a good job as Lord Mountbatten !!! But I also wanna see him as the older Prince Phillip though... I hope they will recast him...
The part when Lord Mountbatten was killed...........so sad.
Charles Dance actually did look like Lord Mountbatten.
Lord Tywin in GoT actually did look like Lord Mountbatten...!!
My favorite English actor !
Well, but in this show, all the actors, actresses were just amazing.
Thank you for the great show!
Can't wait for season 5.
So although all characters were amazing, here were my favorite characters in ranking!
1) Prince Phillip and Queen Elizabeth
2) PM Margaret Thatcher
3) Princess Diana
4) Lord Mountbatten
5) Cute Prince William
6) Princess Margaret
7) Margaret Thatcher's husband
8) Camila
9) Queen mother
10) Prince Charles
11) Princess Anne
12) Prince Edward
13) Prince Andrew
These are my REAL life favorites of the Living Royals! I exclude some whom I dislike and whom I do not consider Royals anymore. I also exclude children. Although I do not like to think of this as popularity contest and I believe everybody should work as a team... I also exclude the ones that died long ago... I still love Princess Diana though I exclude her in this list...
1) Prince Phillip and Queen Elizabeth
2) Prince William
3) Prince Charles
4) Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge
5) Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall
6) Princess Anne
7) Sophie, Countess of Wessex
8) Prince Edward
These 8 living royals, god bless them all and their children.
Especially, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip... BEST COUPLE...I really admire them.
