Jiu Hu Char (Stir Fry Jicama with Cuttlefish) is a popular Nyonya side dish my grandmother used to cook.
My grandmother used to make the BEST Jiu Hu Char.
Now that she's gone, my aunties and my mother have her recipe.
None of them taste like my late Granny's though.
For my mother, who is a health conscious pescatarian, her Jiu Hu Char is less oily and lots of vegetables.
She also uses vegetable oil instead of pig oil.
It tastes good too but I much prefer my aunty's.
I love OILY food
When I went to Malaysia 6 months ago, my aunty made Jiu Hu Char for me.
It was super gooooood!!!!
We warp it with lettuce and add spices called Sanbai.... like this.
