　市川氏は、この変遷を、それぞれの社会的出力規模（生産力）に対応した制御パターンの変化にほかならないと断定し、ここから、「等価変換理論」を展開されるのだが、平安密教は、このうちの「神聖王朗時代」に発生した宗教であり、鎌倉仏教は「その他の封建体制」という時代に起こった宗教である。
