Microsoft has announced that its email service Outlook.com will now support Skype, allowing users to make audio and video calls right from their inbox.
The integration of the two services will also allow users to add their Skype contacts to Outlook.com contacts.
A "preview version" will be launched in the UK on Tuesday, and in the US and Germany in the coming weeks.
Microsoft had said it would offer Skype on its email when it revamped its service last year.
"With Skype for Outlook.com, you can choose the right medium for your message, whether it is an email, call, video call or instant message," Skype said in a blog post.
"You can connect with your Skype and Messenger friends all in the same place."
Microsoft announced an overhaul of its webmail service in July 2012.
The firm dropped the Hotmail brand it had used since acquiring the product in 1998, and adopted the name Outlook.com.
