buddha ブッダのことば Buddha's words、 賤 しい 人＊ 　 わたくし が 聞い た ところ に よる と、 ある とき 師（ ブッダ） は、 サーヴァッティー の ジェータ 林、〈 孤独 な 人々 に 食 を 給する 長者〉 の 園 に おら れ た。 その とき 師 は 朝 の うち に 内衣 を 着け、 鉢 と 上衣 とを たずさえ て、 托鉢 の ため に サーヴァッティー に 入っ た。 　 その とき 火 に 事える バラモン・バーラドヴァージャ の 住居 には、 聖火 が ともさ れ、 供物 が そなえ られ て い た。 さて 師 は サーヴァッティー 市 の 中 を 托鉢 し て、 かれ の 住居 に 近づい た。 火 に 事える バラモン・バーラドヴァージャ は 師 が 遠く から 来る のを 見 た。

そこで、 師 に いっ た、「 髪 を 剃っ た 奴＊ よ、 そこ に おれ＊。 にせ の〈 道 の 人〉 よ、 そこ に おれ。 賤 し い 奴 よ、 そこ に おれ」 と。 　 そう 言わ れ た ので、 師 は、 火 に 事える バラモン・バーラドヴァージャ に 言っ た、「 バラモン よ。 あなた は いったい 賤 しい 人 とは なに かを 知っ て いる の です か？ 　 また 賤 しい 人 たら しめる 条件 を 知っ て いる の です か？」 　「 ゴー タマ さん（ ブッダ）。 わたくし は 人 を 賤 しい 人 と する 条件 をも 知っ て い ない の です。 どう か、 わたくし が 賤 しい 人 を 賤 しい 人 とさ せる 条件 を 知り 得る よう に、 ゴー タマ さん は わたくし に その 定め を 説い て ください。」

 

そこで、 師 に いっ た、「 髪 を 剃っ た 奴＊ よ、 そこ に おれ＊。 にせ の〈 道 の 人〉 よ、 そこ に おれ。 賤 し い 奴 よ、 そこ に おれ」 と。 　 そう 言わ れ た ので、 師 は、 火 に 事える バラモン・バーラドヴァージャ に 言っ た、「 バラモン よ。 あなた は いったい 賤 しい 人 とは なに かを 知っ て いる の です か？ 　 また 賤 しい 人 たら しめる 条件 を 知っ て いる の です か？」 　「 ゴー タマ さん（ ブッダ）。 わたくし は 人 を 賤 しい 人 と する 条件 をも 知っ て い ない の です。 どう か、 わたくし が 賤 しい 人 を 賤 しい 人 とさ せる 条件 を 知り 得る よう に、 ゴー タマ さん は わたくし に その 定め を 説い て ください。

 

「 バラモン よ、 では お 聞き なさい。 よく 注意 なさい。 わたくし は 説き ましょ う。」 　「 どうぞ、 お 説き ください」 と、 火 に 事える バラモン・バーラドヴァージャ は 師 に 答え た。 師 は 説い て いっ た、 　 一一 六 　「 怒り やすく て 恨み を いだき、 邪悪 に し て、 見せかけ で あざむき＊、 誤っ た 見解 を 奉じ、 たくらみ の ある 人、 かれ を 賤 しい 人 で ある と 知れ。

一一 七 　 一度 生まれる もの＊（ 胎生） でも、 二度 生まれる もの（ 卵生） でも、 この世 で 生きもの を 害し、 生きもの に対する あわれみあわれみ の ない 人、 かれ を 賤 しい 人 で ある と 知れ。

一一 八＊ 　 村 や 町 を 破壊 し、 包囲 し、 圧制 者 として 一般 に 知ら れる 人、 かれ を 賤 しい 人 で ある と 知れ。 一一 九 　 村 に あっ ても、 林 に あっ ても＊、 他人 の 所有物 を ば、 与え られ ない のに 盗み 心 を もっ て 取る 人、 かれ を 賤 しい 人 で ある と 知れ。

一二 〇＊ 　 実際 には 負債 が ある のに、 返済 する よう に 督促 さ れる と、『 あなた からの 負債 は ない』 と いっ て 言い逃れる 人、 かれ を 賤 しい 人 で ある と 知れ。

一二 一＊ 　 実に かの 物 が 欲しく て 路 行く 人 を 殺害 し て、 かのあわれみ の ない 人、 かれ を 賤 しい 人 で ある と 知れ。

一一 八＊ 　 村 や 町 を 破壊 し、 包囲 し、 圧制 者 として 一般 に 知ら れる 人、 かれ を 賤 しい 人 で ある と 知れ。 一一 九 　 村 に あっ ても、 林 に あっ ても＊、 他人 の 所有物 を ば、 与え られ ない のに 盗み 心 を もっ て 取る 人、 かれ を 賤 しい 人 で ある と 知れ。
