When you read my post in Japanese today you may think it is not easy to write something in English every day.

I know what you want to say to me next.
"Still, I don't know what to do with myself..."

I'll tell you two tips today.
Only two. It's not a big deal, right?

1. Write something in three sentences
You don't need to write an article like this post.
What you need to do is writing only 2 or 3 sentences. Let’s say 2 sentences are fine!
Then it's not difficult for you to write something, right?
Even if you write only two sentenses, you have to think how you can connect those two sentences.
That's one of the key to improve your skill. You don't need to post an article on your blog.
Tweet something in English on Twitter is enough.

2.Dont't try to be perfect
You may think you shouldn't make a mistake, especially when you post a tweet or an article on the web.
"Many people will check my post... Then how could I make a mistake!"
The fact is others don’t see your post in English so carefully.
At the same time, I can say being quiet(doing nothing) is much worse than making mistakes.
You are not able to improve your writing skill without mistakes.
If someone point out your mistakes, let's say "Thank you very much!"
You got an opportunity to improve yourself. It's not only about English grammar, but also your communication skill.
Don't try to be perfect.

日常で使えそうなシーンをどんどん挙げてみようと思います。

"It's easy for him to program a new app on iPhone."
「彼にとってiPhone上で動くアップを作るのは難しくない。」
動詞を変えてやれば、「あいつなら簡単に〜できるよ」と色んな場面で言えますね。

つい先日、書いたYouTube絡みでいうと、
"It is not easy to earn enough money to live only by YouTube."
「YouTubeだけで生計を立てるのは困難だ。」
普遍的な内容になるので、for人はなしで書いています。

続いて、待ちあわせの説明をするときにこんな感じで。
"It has to be easy for you to find Masa when you reach at the meeting point."
「待ち合わせ場所に到着したらMasaを見つけるのは簡単なはずだ。」

ビジネスでも相手に状況を説明するときによく使いますね。
合わせ技も一緒にドゾ。
"It is important for us to receive your product by the end of this month.
Otherwise, we won't be able to ship our demo unit to an exhibition next month."
「貴社の製品を今月末までに受け取ることが重要です。
そうしないと、来月の展示会にデモ機を出荷することができません。」

この形はいろんなシーンで使えます。
構文だけ覚えようとするより、どんなシーンに使えるかな?とイメージすること。あと、今日挙げた例文のように身の回りのことに置き換えてみるのが身に着ける近道だと思います。

英語での文章力を身に着けるには何かを英語で書き続けるのがとても大事です。

ということですね!

英語の問題では前後の文意をつかんでいるかテストするために
このような言い方を選ばせています。
…この画面ということは間違えた、と

ビジネスでもメールを英語で書くときにこういった繋ぎ言葉は、
自分の主張や考えをまとめたり、説得力を増すために必須です。
ブツ切りの文章ではせっかく言いたい事があってもスッと入ってきません。
つまり、相手により分かりやすく伝えるための必要不可欠なツールということになります。

…難しく聞こえます？
そんなに特別なことではなく、普段あなたも意識せずに使っているはずです。
例えば、すぐ上のパラグラフでは「つまり」が出てきています。
この部分が、
To be brief
In other words
In summary
にあたります。

実際に最近、英語で書いた記事を見ていただくとそのような繋ぎ言葉を
盛り込んでいることが分かると思います。

また、ネットで興味のある事について英語の記事を見てみて、
文意を読まずにどんな繋ぎ言葉が使われているかを見るのもいいですね！

In conclusion, these phrases are useful when you write something in English!

写真の状況とは違うけど、タイトルみたいに
「だから言ったのに〜！」というシチュエーションでも
同じ英語の構成で話せちゃいます。

「言ったじゃん！思ってたのと違うんだけど！」
とも言えますね。

若干、ワガママな気もしますね（笑）

でも、期待と反していた時はお店なんかでも使えます。

A: Do you like this one?
B: Well, it’s a little different from what I expected. Do you have another color, a little light blue.
C: Sure. a moment please.

とか。
キレてないですよ〜！（笑）

これでYesしか言えない日本人とは言わなせない！ですね！

お出かけ会話の定番！


海外で仕事仲間と一緒にいる時にも頻繁に
「どこ行く？」という時に耳にします。

Where are we heading?
どこに行くの？（向かってるの？）

- ご飯でどこのレストランに行くのかな？
- 車に乗せてもらって、行き先を行くとき。
- 単純におでかけで。

何気な〜い、こんな感じで。
A: Let’s go this way.
B: Where are we heading?
A: A theater. We can’t miss the new Conan’s movie!
B: Yes! ...But it will be released next month.
A: Oh... It seems we should change our plan for today.
B: Where are we heading next?


さて、この週末はどちらへお出かけ？

I think〜とかYou are〜のように言い切るのではなく、
もうちょっとボヤかして「〜みたいだねぇ」という
ニュアンスで活躍しますね！

ではでは、実践編！
“Huh?! You seem to be having fun with that. Where did you get it?”
「え!? それ楽しそうじゃん! どこで手に入れたの?」

↓パートナーが座った席が気に入らない様子…↓
“You don't seem to be comfortable with that seat.”
「その席、よくないみたいだね?」

↓張り切って転職した友達が暗いぞ…↓
“You don't seem to be comfortable with your new job. What’s wrong with you?”
「新しい仕事、いまいちみたいだね? どーしたよ！？」

ちょっと、ネガティブな文が続いてしまったので、気分を変えて、
Youからitを主語にしていくつかいってみましょう!
もっと、いろんな場面で使うことができます!

“It seems difficult for us to go to Italy this year.”
「今年のイタリア行は厳しそうだね。」
唐突にイタリア！ そして、まだネガティブ？（笑）

“It seems to be difficult for us to go to Masaharu Fukuyama's concert at Budokan.”
福山雅治まで出しておきながらまだネガティブ！


ちょっと形変わっちゃうけど、旅行でもこんな感じで！
“It seems we are almost there! Can't wait!”
「もうちょいで着くみたいだね! 楽しみ!」

お、いいぞ！盛り上がってきた！
さて、次はもっと楽しい状況を…え？

突然ですが、
実際の会話では、英語のキョーカショに出てくるような
お行儀のよい言葉ばかりではないですよね。

話の流れによっては、
「え?! 違うし!　ツッコミて〜！」という事も。
そんな時にピッタリな使えるツッコミ英語をヒデオから学びましょう!


とあるヒトコマ。ははぁ、「精密」とは関係ない。
なるほどね。

precisionを変えるといろいろ使えちゃう。

That's got nothing to do with it!
それ関係ないから!

まずはコレが無難にいろいろ使えちゃいますね。

その他のパターンも考えてみました。
A: I heard someone is hanging out with Eiko...?!
B: Hey, that's got nothing to do with me! That must be Hideo!
まぁ、全国津々浦々に旅をしておりますからなぁ。
目撃され、そのような誤解もあるでしょう!

次はもう少し、ツッコミを強く(笑)
A: You know what? I found a good souvenir in Hokkaido.
B: So da ne-♬
A: C'mon! That's nothing to do with curling! I got salmon roe, not the cheese cake!
B: !!
ベタな時事ネタですが(笑)
この形で覚えておくと、いろんな場面でツッコミできますね！

Howなんかは馴染みがありますよね。

そこにどうやっていけばいいか知りたいです。

などなど。

この場合、it = when toで(笑)


いっぺんに全部覚えよー、とするのではなく、
思いつきそうな例文をいくつか自分で作ってみると
ものにしやすいと思います。

。。。そして、復習で出たら次は。。。

例によって、ちょっと言い換えてみます。

なんのスポーツか分かりそうなもんですね！

さっき、感覚でと書きましたが、ワタクシは
仕事でメール書く時にこんな感じで使うこと多いです。
“As shown in ..., you will see that 〜”
（...にthe manual/the graph/your previous emailなどなど）

As I emailed you last week, I’ll be in Tokyo next month.
I think we’ll have time to meet at XXX.
Let me know which day is convenient for you.
とか、普段のやりとりにも使えちゃう。

便利なasを使いこなしちゃいましょう！
