宗教は、倫理・道徳をもふくめて、「意識の改造」だけを考

えてきた。これを「回心」というのであるが、要するに、ものの考えかたをぶボ教

的に”変えるということだけにしぼってきたのである。

　そして結局、世界中のいずれの宗教も、それに成功しなかったことは、世界の現

状を見てみれば一目瞭然というものであろう。

　それはなぜか？

　人間の脳に、致命的な欠陥があるからだ。

　この欠陥を是正・改造せぬかぎり、神の教えも仏の教えも効果はない。なぜなら

ば、どんなによい教えでも、どんなにすぐれた思想でも、それを受け入れる脳に欠

陥があったら、「ウマの耳に念仏」である。

　これは決して駄ジャレではない。じっさいに、人間の脳には、ヒトの脳とともに

ウマの脳が共存しているのである。いや、ヘビ、ワニの脳も一緒である。

　る。「変化がそのように」トの脳をつくりあげたのである。

　最も古い脳である古皮質は、基本的に昶虫類の脳であり、二番目の旧皮質は、下

等哺乳類から受けついだ脳である。三番目の新皮質は、ヒトの脳ではあるが、後期

哺乳類から発達しか脳だ。

 

　つまり、こういうことになる、

　　古皮質　　−　ヘビーワニの脳

　　旧皮質　−−−　ウマーヒツジの脳

　　新皮質　−　ヒトの脳



 

古皮質　大脳皮質の一部で、系統発生的には旧皮質に次いで現れる部分。両生類以上に見られ、両生類では旧皮質とともに主要部を占める。哺乳類では内側にわずかに存在し、本能・情動などの中枢があるとされる。

旧皮質　大脳皮質の一部。系統発生的に最も古い部分。魚類では大脳を構成するが、両生類からは古皮質、爬虫(はちゅう)類以上はさらに新皮質が発達して覆う。人間では背面内側にわずかに存在し、食欲・性欲などの本能行動や情動に関係するといわれる

新皮質　大脳皮質の一部で、系統発生的に最も新しい部分。爬虫類(はちゅうるい)以上にみられ、哺乳類では大脳のほとんどを占める。人類では最もよく発達し、学習・思考・情操などの精神活動が営まれる。

 

この三つが、人間の大脳の中で同居しているのである。　問題は、この三つの異質の脳が、バランスよく機能していないことである。

　「昶虫類型」の脳と、「古代哺乳類型」の脳は、ほとんど進化の于の影響を受けな

いままで来ており、ややオーバーにいえば、ヘビ、ワニ、ウマ、ヒツジのままの脳ある。

　これにたいし、新皮質脳のほうは、過去五〇万年の間に、爆発的スピードで発達

を遂げた。解剖学者の中には、その急成長ぶりを、腫瘍の成長にたとえるものさえいるほどである。

　このアンバランスー

　この場合、この異常な進歩を遂げたあたらしい脳が、古い脳を完全に統御・調整

できる装置を持っていれば問題ないのであるが、専門学者は、この二つの脳をつな

ぐ神経回路が十分でないといっているのである。

　このアンバランスな脳が、アンバランスな文明をつくり出してしまったのである。

いや、それは、文明だけではない。個々の人間にとってもいえることである。すべ

て、人間の「苦」は、そのアンバランスの脳が生みだした「愚かさ」から生じてい

るのである。人間のあらゆる悲劇、苦しみは、人間の愚かさが生み出したものだ。

その愚かさは、この、矛盾した脳、バランスを欠いた脳から生じたものなのである。

あなたはそう思わないか。

　私は、これこそが、人間の持つ「業」だと思うのである。仏陀が説いた人間の業

とは、まさにこれなのだ、と。

　仏陀は、業からの脱出、業からの超越を説いて、成仏法を教えた。

　成仏法こそ、これら人間の脳の致命的欠陥を是正・改造する法だったのである。

　たんなる意識の改造ではなく、意識の根源である脳を完全に改造してしまうのだ。
