NASA’s Next Mars Rover Is Named Perseverance
NASA's next Mars rover has been given a name − Perseverance. The six-wheeled robot will travel to Mars later this year to collect rocks that will be brought back to Earth by a future NASA mission.
Perseverance was named by Alex Mather, a 13-year-old student from Springfield, Virginia, who won a NASA naming contest. The winner of the contest was announced at Mather's school, where he read his winning essay live on NASA TV.
