�@英語にはたくさんの数量詞表現がある。それは名詞や代名詞の前に付く。

You suddenly decide that this is the time to buy a dozen roses.
（ a dozen roses　１２本のバラ）


�A確かな数量詞は数えられる名詞の単数が使われる。その他は数えられない名詞が使われる。

１・EACH、 EITHER、 EVERY 、NEITHERは単数形の数えられる名詞が使われる。

It was a pain to learn a new money system every time you crossed a border.

Or is it neither a good nor bad thing?


２・BOTH(OF)、 A BUNCH (OF)、 A COUPLE (OF)、 EITHER OF、 NEITHER OF、 A FEW (OF)、 FEWER(OF)、 A GREAT MENY(OF)、 A GOOD MANY(OF)、 MANY(OF)、 A NUMBER OF、 SEVERAL(OF)は複数形の数えられる名詞が使われる。

It’s much easier than having to write several different checks to several different agencies.

The Euro will have a great many significant effects.


３・A BIT OF、 A GREAT DEAL OF、 LESS、 LITTLE(OF)、 A LITTLE(OF)、 MUCH OFは数えられない名詞が使われる。

It was a bit of a pain to have to learn a new money system every time you crossed a border.


４・ALL(OF)、 ANY(OF)、 ENOUGH(OF)、 HALF(OF)、 A LOT OF、 LOTS OF、 MOST OF、 NO、 NONE、 NONE OF、 SOME(OF)、 (TEN)PERCENT(OF)は数えられない名詞と複数形の数えられる名詞が使われる。

Not all (of) the countries of the European Union are using the Euro.

I spent all (of) my money.

The Euro made its debut in most of the countries of the European Union.

My son spent all (of) his allowance.


�B数量詞＋OFは、話し手または書き手が明確に特定の人（PEASONS）、場所（PLACES）、事・物（THINGS）、グループについて述べるときに使う。

Most of the countries of the European Union are using the Euro.（その国の大多数の人々）

　
特定の何かを指すのではなく、一般的な話をする時はOFをつけない。

Most people don’t really understand finance.（多くの人々）


�C口語では肯定的な文を言う時A LOT OF、 LOTS OF、 MUCH、 MANYをよく使う。否定文または疑問文の時も、 MUCH、 MANYは使われる。

Carrying a lot of coins can make holes in your pockets.

Do you have much cash with you?

Do you have many credit cards?


�D数えられる名詞にも数えられない名詞にも、肯定文の時にSOMEが使える。
　数えられる名詞にも数えられない名詞にも、否定文の時にANYが使える。

You need to buy some flowers.
We need to take some money with us.

There won’t be any Euro coins.
I don’t have any cash on me.

質問系の時にはSOMEまたはANYを使える。ANYの方が好まれる。

Are there any advantages to cash?
Are there some advantages to cash?


�E肯定文でANYが使われる時、それは量を定めているわけではない。それは明確ではない人、場所、物・事を著している。

Any of these currencies can be used in Europe.


�FLESS とFEWER、 AMOUNTと NUMBER、 LESSと AMOUNTの違いは、FEWERと NUMBERは数えられる名詞を使い、それ以外は数えられない名詞を使う。

Now there are also a number of advantages to electronic money.


�GA FEW、 FEW、 A LITTLE、 LITTLEの違い。

�HSOME OF、 ANY OF、 MOST OF、 HALF OF、 (TEN) PERCENT OF、 NONE OFを使う時に続く動詞は、動詞の前に来る名詞が何なのかによって、単数形または複数形になる。

Most of the money has been spent.

Most of the European Union countries are using the Euro.
