Far backcountry life in Japan

Making good compost is one of my interested topics now. Output of mowing should be put into compost bin and reused as ingredient of farming. Since I use 4-cycle engine mower, many weeds are gathered and collected.


One of my compost bin constructed from scrap woods is large. I have recently learned that aerobic bacteria are more activated in high temperature (around 60° Celsius), it should be covered and protected from rain to keep air and water balance. Accordingly, I covered it with huge orange sheet that is so called ‘blue sheet’. Let see how it goes. Need some time to be figured out.



Other one is smaller for home use. It is Compospin, which is like Star Wars Death Star.
Good thing is that you can just rotate it like a ball and not need stir with stick. This is set near the house and food scraps and raw garbage are put into this Compospin. Also let us see how it goes.
