Far backcountry life in Japan

Participated on harmful birds and mammals control prefecture training. This time was mainly boxed trap with some Maruta trigger explanation. Everyone mentioned that wild boar number was reduced this year due to CSF.

Not only field but also road side of land just next to my house are damaged by wild boars. Need to set traps here too.

Wild boar trap will catch raccoon dogs quite often. You can hunt and eat raccoon dogs under hunting permission but since meat is not as good as boars and also cute and not against hunters, they will be released most cases.

This is largest wild boar trap ever seen which is not in my town but just 7km away from my house. I am using very ordinal trap near this bandit bastion.

Local hunters had CSF training held by town. No CSF in Tochigi pref. so far but everyone is afraid of virus. New two traps were given to every single hunter. Awesome!

The target of harmful mammals control in Nakagawa town are wild boar and masked palm civet. This picture is male masked palm civet on my trap.
