Californians urged to conserve power this evening as extreme heat scorches state
As extreme heat bears down on much of California, including parts of the Bay Area, the state’s power grid operator asked residents to voluntarily conserve energy Friday to lessen the risk of outages.
The California Independent System Operator, which manages much of the state’s power grid, issued a Flex Alert that will take effect between 4 p.m. through 9 p.m. Friday evening.
