FDA panel will not urge Pfizer boosters for all
The Food and Drug Administration advisory group said it needed more data to support safety of a third dose of Pfizer for all ages. They also questioned how much benefit a third dose would offer to people in preventing severe disease or mild illness, and whether boosting all Pfizer recipients would have much impact on slowing down coronavirus transmission in the United States.

The Pentagon acknowledged that a U.S. drone strike in Afghanistan on Aug. 29 was a tragic mistake that killed 10 civilians, a military official said.
Friday, September 17, 2021 3:04 PM EST
The explosives the military claimed were loaded in the trunk of a white Toyota sedan struck by the drone’s Hellfire missile were most likely water bottles, and a secondary explosion in the courtyard in a densely populated Kabul neighborhood where that attack took place was probably a propane or gas tank, the official said.
In short, the car posed no threat at all, investigators concluded.

Declining child coronavirus cases indicate generally safe school reopenings in L.A. County
The early weeks of fully opened schools throughout Los Angeles County have coincided with declining pediatric coronavirus cases, the first indication that campuses are generally operating safely without a troubling number of outbreaks.
The low number of school coronavirus outbreaks will allow the county's 80 school districts to adopt relaxed quarantine practices when an unvaccinated student is exposed to an infected person and has met certain safety conditions, L.A. County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer announced.
