What are temples??? What are Shrines?
よく外人ゲストに聞かれるパターンその2です(笑)
temple=寺
Temples are where Buddhist priests and nuns receive their training, and various Buddhist memorial services are held.
仏教にかかわる施設で、僧や尼さんが修行をしたり、さまざまな仏事が行われます。
You will also find the graves for the ancestors of Buddhist temple supporters in the temple.
寺の敷地内には、檀家さんたちの先祖の墓所があります。
Priest=僧
Nun=尼
how to pay your respects at a temple.
寺の参拝について
1. light a chandle and place incense in the censer as offerings.
灯明に蝋燭、香炉に線香なんかをあげる。
2. put a small amount of money into the alms box as a gesture of thanks for answering your prayer.
祈願成就を願って賽銭箱に気持ちを
3.compose yourself, face the image of Buddha, and put your hands together in prayer.
御本尊に対し、心を静めて合唱する。
About Shrine＝神社は
Shrines are where believers in Shinto have maintained their faith since olden times in Japan.
昔から日本に伝わる神道という信仰の施設です。
Shrines are maintained by Shinto priests and shrine maidens.
神主や巫女さんがいます。
how to pay your repects at a shrine.
神社の参拝は？
1. wash your hands and rinse your mouth with water at the 'suibansha' to purify your body.
水盤舎で手や口をすすいで身を清める。
2 put a small amount of money into the alms box as a gesture of thanks for answering your prayer.
祈願成就を願って賽銭箱に小銭を
3 ring the bell, and bow and clap twice
鈴を鳴らし、２礼2拍手を
4 after you have prayed, make your last bow.
最後に1礼を（2礼２拍手１礼）
