Nearly 200 employees in the San Francisco Police Department applied for a religious exemption to the city’s employee vaccine mandate, the highest number of waiver requests from any city department, by far.
The rules require employees who work in high-risk settings, like police officers, to be vaccinated by Oct. 13. All other employees must be fully inoculated by November.

CDC endorses Pfizer booster shots for seniors and for healthcare workers
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday endorsed booster shots for millions of older or otherwise vulnerable Americans.
The advisors said Pfizer boosters should be offered to people 65 and older, nursing home residents and those ages 50 to 64 who have risky underlying health problems.
However, the CDC rejected a recommendation by advisors not to give extra doses of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine to healthcare workers.
