Senate GOP blocks commission to study Capitol insurrection
Senate Republicans blocked the creation of a bipartisan commission to study the insurrection at the Capitol on Jan. 6, calling it an attempt by Democrats to keep former President Trump in the news during next year's pivotal midterm election.
A majority of senators, including a handful of Republicans, supported a procedural vote on the bill, but it failed to get the 60 votes needed to advance.
