Top House Republican, Kevin McCarthy, says Trump bears responsibility for mob attack on Capitol but opposes impeachment
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said President Trump “should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding” and called on him to accept his share of responsibility.
“Quell the brewing unrest,” McCarthy said in a speech on the House floor. “And ensure President-elect Biden is able to successfully begin his term." McCarthy rejected impeachment as divisive.
