EPA to restore protections for Alaska’s Bristol Bay, blocking construction of gold mine near world’s largest sockeye salmon run
The Environmental Protection Agency decision to invoke its Clean Water Act powers to bar development in the watershed fulfills a pledge President Biden made during the 2020 campaign, and deals a serious blow to a project that has been in the works for more than a decade.
