At least 12 US service members killed, more injured in attack near Kabul airport, Pentagon says

At least 12 US service members were killed and 15 more service members were injured in an attack believed to have been carried out by the Islamic State near Kabul’s airport on Thursday, a Pentagon official said.
“Two suicide bombers assessed to have been ISIS fighters detonated” near Kabul’s airport, Marine Corps General Kenneth F. McKenzie Jr. said during a press briefing. The explosions were followed by “a number of ISIS gunmen who opened fire on civilians and military forces,” McKenzie said.
There were also a number of Afghan civilians who were killed and injured in the attack.
