The arrival of three Democrats in Austin effectively ended their party’s 38-day-old walkout over the Republican voting bill in the Texas Legislature.
More than 50 Democrats in the Texas House of Representatives went to Washington, D.C., last month in a last-ditch effort to prevent a restrictive voting measure from passing in the Republican-dominated Legislature.
When it began on July 12, few believed that their walkout would last this long.
