Climate change now main driver of increasing wildfire weather, study finds
California researchers say climate change is now up to 88% responsible for the conditions driving wildfire behavior in the western United States.
Researchers based their conclusion on the rate at which dry air absorbs moisture from soil and plants. They found that normal weather patterns failed to explain this growing vapor pressure deficit.
The study said that climate change is increasing fire weather risk much sooner than expected.
