Fed overhauls trading rules for top officials as scrutiny grows around financial activity of policymakers during pandemic
The changes for top officials come in response to pressure around the trading behavior of policymakers as the central bank dealt with the pandemic's recession. The new rules prohibit the purchase of individual securities, restrict active trading and ramp up the timeliness of reporting and public financial disclosures by Fed policymakers, as well as senior staff. Senior Fed officials will be allowed to have only diversified investments, such as mutual funds.
