Nearly 1,600 state employees missed Baker’s vaccine mandate deadline, and more than 40,000 were in compliance, officials say

BREAKING NEWS ALERT
The deadline for mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations in the state’s executive branch passed Sunday, and now managers face the prospect of determining who remains unvaccinated in thousands of positions encompassing public safety, transportation, and education − and what penalties may be assessed for those who refuse to get vaccinated.
State officials said 40,462 active employees have submitted the required attestation form or applied for an exemption and are in compliance with Baker’s order, as of Monday. The state hasn’t received the required form or exemption requests from 1,571 employees.
