Until now, he had thought of it as "several people playing instruments together," but he was invited to go to a concert by this "ensemble."
That's because his granddaughter will be appearing in it.
After all, it means "several people playing instruments."
He drove home thinking, "That's how it should simply be expressed in Japanese."

He was a member of the reed ensemble when he was in elementary school.
His instrument was the double bass.
The instrument that played the main melody, equivalent to the violin in an orchestra, was the harmonica.
