California recall: Here is the list of certified write-in candidates

California voters can’t just write in any name they want on the Sept. 14 recall ballot. Write-in votes are only tabulated if the name is included on a list of certified candidates assembled by the Secretary of State. That list, released Friday, contains seven names, none of them well-known.

Some Democrats have questioned if they could write in Newsom’s name, or that of another well-known Democrat, such as Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis. The answer for both Newsom and Kounalakis: No. Neither is a certified write-in candidate.
