FDA agrees to expand COVID boosters to all adults; final hurdle ahead
The FDA has opened Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 booster shots to all adults, expanding the government's campaign to shore up protection and get ahead of rising coronavirus cases that may worsen with the holidays.
The decision comes after at least 10 states, including California, had already started offering boosters to all adults. The CDC must also agree to expand boosters and will debate the matter later today.

In a milestone, 70% of all Californians have at least one vaccine dose
Seven out of 10 Californians have now received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, a promising milestone that comes as state officials continue to urge more residents to roll up their sleeves for the first, second or even third time to ward off a feared coronavirus resurgence over the winter.
The picture is even rosier when looking just at those who can currently get the shots. Closer to 75% of eligible Californians, those ages 5 and up, are now at least partially vaccinated.

Global initiative on climate action adopted by nearly 200 countries
Government negotiators from nearly 200 countries have adopted a new action plan to fight climate change.
The deal calls for an eventual end of some coal-fueled power generation and fossil fuel subsidies. It also includes additional financial incentives sought by poorer nations that anticipate harms from climate change out of proportion with their roles in causing it.
Most importantly, negotiators said, it preserves, although barely, the overarching goal of limiting warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) since pre-industrial times. The world has already warmed 1.1 degrees Celsius (2 degrees Fahrenheit).
