Grocery shopping in Japan
Grocery store = Super Market (スーパーマーケット) [suupaa maaketto] in Japan.
We shorten and call it Super (スーパー) [suupaa].
I am going to get xxx at grocery store.
( スーパーでxxxを買ってきます。)
[suupaa de xxx wo katte kimasu]
You can get that at grocery store.
( それはスーパーで買えます。)
[sore ha suupaa de kae masu]
You might find it difficult to tell from how it looks.
According to website of All Japan Super Market Map (Japanese website),
there are 179 grocery stores in Nagoya city.
Most popular ones are;
I didn't have this near my house and I honestly don't know much about here, but I can search more if you'd like.
Valor (バロー) - 18 stores
V drug (pharmacy) is their group company.
They have lots of self brand items (V select, V Quality, V premium).
Aoki super (アオキスーパー) - 17 stores
AZ Park is their group company.
Did you find something near you?
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on comment

Welcome to my blog
Hello!
My name is Maja.
I am Japanese, from Nagoya, Aichi.
From my experience of traveling to other countries,
I started to realize many things I normally do in Japan is sometimes confusing for non-Japanese speakers.
I will write about those questions I hear from my friends, and hopefully it will help you too.
Thank you so much for respecting our culture, and giving much love
I hope my explanation of your nanda (= what?) will helps you enjoy exploring more!
