"Seven-Five-Three") is a traditional rite of passage and festival day in Japan for three- and seven-year-old girls and three- and five-year-old boys, held annually on November 15 to celebrate the growth and well-being of young children. As it is not a national holiday, it is generally observed on the nearest weekend.

Shichi-Go-San is said to have originated in the Heian period amongst court nobles who would celebrate the passage of their children into middle childhood. The ages 3, 5 and 7 are consistent with East Asian numerology, which holds that odd numbers are lucky.[1] The practice was set to the fifteenth of the month during the Kamakura period.[2]
History
Over time, this tradition passed to the samurai class who added a number of rituals. Children−who up until the age of three were required by custom to have shaven heads−were allowed to grow out their hair. Boys of age five could wear hakama for the first time, while girls of age seven replaced the simple cords they used to tie their kimono with the traditional obi.[3] By the Meiji period, the practice was adopted amongst commoners as well, and included the modern ritual of visiting a shrine to drive out evil spirits and wish for a long healthy life.[4]

On the 27th in Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture, the East Japan great earthquake disaster / reconstruction assistance charity "Japan's heart, Japanese bonds, poetry and kimono story" was held. 47 colorful kimonos including sleeveless sleevelesss and yukata robes were shown along with poetry and songs that read the four seasons of Japan and sighs came out of the venue for their beauty.
神奈川県鎌倉市の鶴岡八幡宮で27日、東日本大震災・復興支援チャリティー「日本の心・日本の絆・詩と着物の物語」が開かれました。振り袖や浴衣など、色とりどりの着物47点が、日本の四季を読み込んだ詩や歌とともに披露され、その美しさに会場からため息がもれました。

The material I used for belt is satin. The method to make it full length is the same method like this one,
just make the length longer. You might need 4-5 yards fabric. I’m very happy to the result. I enjoy trying on clothes I make ^^
