Yana

Nakagawa is the river crossing Nakagawa-machi. In this river, there are a few ‘yana’ which are fishing weirs. An ayu (sweetfish in English) going downstream will be captured in draining board of yana.

It is very traditional way of fishing. Yana is made of a few hundreds of bamboo hampers containing stones, which will bring ayu to the draining board. In summer season, you can have ayu cuisine in yana too.
