I always thought Succession was the adult version Gossip Girl but more in the REAL business world and less love aspects.
I really believe so after watching the final episode.
Both shows focus on the Crazy Rich Elites of NYC.
Succession is Gossip Girl in more Shakespearian way with melancholy in the adult world.
The main characters share similarities.
Dan was so Tom.
If cut the love aspects, the Roy siblings were the Chuck Blair Nate Serena.
They did grew up like siblings from childhood.
They loved each other deeply and they had their special bond that even Dan could not get in; but they did betray each other time to time.
Also they all try to be different and better than their parents but they are not much different than their parents in the end.
They all have some kind of father complex, mother complex and siblings complex.
They are filthy crazy rich but they are constantly under strong pressure and expectation that normal people could not imagine.
Tom= Dan
(Outsider, smart, date & befriend & married in to the rich, the dark horse)
Shiv= Blair
(smart, cunning, wants to be number1 , scheming, siblings complex)
Ken= Serena
(lets a guy die, drugs, thinks she is better than everyone, wants to change to be better person but does not change in the end, father complex)
Roman＝ Chuck
(abused as a child by own father, sexual harassment, mother complex, actually smart)
Conner＝ Nate
(wants to be politician, doesn’t know what’s going on most of the time)
Nate ＝ Nate
(several infidelities, political world)
Logan Roy's Media Empire ＝ Nate's Spectator in future
Succession ended nicely.
The show was amazing.
The ending was very logical, balanced and Shakespearean.
Now, I hope there will be New Gossip Girl Sequel, adult version Gossip Girl from the original story line and characters.
I did not like the Reboot because it was too Woke.
I did not think the rich kids actually cared so much about being politically correct all the time.
I just wanted see crazy rich people being crazy rich.
Besides the reboot version Gossip Girl was that pathetic Woke minded teacher.
Knowing who the GG from the beginning was also boring and even worse, she was so lame.
I do not need a show that push their woke minded ideology and try to lecture the audience about Wokeness.
I want to watch a show that will leave us, the audiences with melancholy and our own thoughts.
『Succession』/『Gossip Girl (original)』were both amazing shows!!!
