『春日大社』ってどんな神社？藤原氏の氏神を祀る歴史のある神社！

“Kasuga Taisha” is the beginning of the construction of the shrine by the left minister, Nagate Fujiwara in 2nd year of Jingo Keiun (768).

『春日大社』は、神護景雲2年（768年）に左大臣・藤原永手によって社殿が造営されたのが始まりとされ、祭神・氏神として「春日神」が祀られています。

Speaking of Mr. Fujiwara, Fujiwara Kamatari, who defeated Mr. Soga with the power of Nakanooenooji  中大兄皇子, and Michinaga Fujiwara, famous for the poem "This world is for me ..." .

藤原氏と言えば、中大兄皇子と力を合わせて蘇我氏を倒した藤原鎌足や、「この世は自分のためにあるようなものだ・・・」の詩で知られる藤原道長が有名です。

 

Mr. Fujiwara had authority (politics by a regent to the emperor) over about 300 years until rule by a retired emperor starts from Fujiwarano Fuhito's (Kamatari's child) sons (Fujiwara Shika).

藤原氏は、藤原不比等（鎌足の子）の息子達（藤原四家）から院政が始まるまでの約300年間、権力（摂関政治）を持ちました。

 

"Kasuga-taisha" will also prosper with such Mr. Fujiwara's prosperity.

そんな藤原氏の隆盛とともに、『春日大社』も栄えることになります。

 

In 1998, it was registered as a World Heritage site as one of the cultural assets of the ancient capital Nara.

1998年には「古都奈良の文化財」の1つとして世界遺産に登録されました。

『春日大社』の祭神は？「式年造替」で参拝できる国宝「御本殿」！

“Kasuga Taisha” enshrines four pillars of God.

『春日大社』には４柱の神が祀られています。

 

There are four main shrines in the national treasure “Gohonden” where four pillars are enshrined.

４柱が祀られている国宝「御本殿」の中には４棟の本殿があり、それぞれに神が祀られています。

 

The first palace ... Takamikazuchinomikoto 武甕槌命(タケミカヅチノミコト)

Second Hall ... Futsunushinomikoto 経津主命(フツヌシノミコト)

Third Hall ... Amenokoyanenomikoto 天児屋根命(アメノコヤネノミコト)

The fourth palace ... Himegami 比売神(ヒメガミ)

第一殿・・・武甕槌命(タケミカヅチノミコト)

第二殿・・・経津主命(フツヌシノミコト)

第三殿・・・天児屋根命(アメノコヤネノミコト)

第四殿・・・比売神(ヒメガミ)

 

Since the main shrine is a sacred area, worshipers cannot enter and photography is prohibited.

「御本殿」は神聖な区域であることから、参拝客は入ることができず、写真撮影も禁止となっています。

When going and worship, the person who applied for inspection especially go and worship from " Chumon 中門(important cultural asset)" and a person of general worship go and worship from "Heiden　幣殿 (important cultural asset)"

参拝する際は、特別拝観を申し込んだ方は「中門（重要文化財）」から、一般参拝の方は「幣殿（重要文化財）」から参拝してください。

However, there is a period during which you can enter “Gohonden” and visit directly.

ただ、「御本殿」に入り直接参拝できる期間があります。

 

This is a ceremonial period called “Shikienzotai”式年造替（しきねんぞうたい）, and the main shrine is rebuilt once every 20 years.

* Recent “Reconstruction of Ceremony” was carried out from 2015 to 2016

それが「式年造替（しきねんぞうたい）」と呼ばれる儀式の期間で、20年に1度のペースで本殿などを造り替えています。

※最近の「式年造替」は2015年から2016年に行われました

 

If you would like to worship “Gohonden”, we recommend that you come to worship for this period.

「御本殿」を参拝したい方は、この期間をねらって参拝しに来ることをオススメします。

• Nanmon


• 南門

“Nanmon” is designated as an important cultural property at the main gate of “Kasuga Taisha”.

「南門」は『春日大社』の正門で重要文化財に指定されています。

From the “Ichino Torii”, you can see the “Nanmon” in about 20 minutes on Omotesando.

「一乃鳥居」から表参道を約20分歩いて見えてくるのが「南門」です。

 

This “South Gate” is the main gate of “Kasuga Taisha” and is a beautiful vermilion gate with a height of 12m. During the Kasuga festival, the ambassador (the emperor's name) will enter.

* Do not enter during Kasuga festival

この「南門」は『春日大社』の正門で、高さが12ｍもある朱色の美しい門です。春日祭の際には勅使（天皇陛下の名代）が入る参入門となります。

※春日祭の時は中に入れません

 

 

• Heiden ・Buden


• 幣殿・舞殿

Passing through the South Gate, you can see the important cultural properties, “Heiden” and “Buden”.

「南門」をくぐって正面に見えるのが重要文化財の「幣殿」と「舞殿」です。

 

Although it looks like one building, the two places on the east side are places where “Heiden” is temporarily reserved for the Emperor's offerings, and the three places on the west side are places where general worshipers visit “Buden”. .

1つの建物に見えますが、東側の2間が「幣殿」で天皇陛下のお供え物を一時的に納める場所で、西側の３間は「舞殿」で一般参拝の方が参拝する場所です。

 

Those who have special worship are on the right side through the South Gate.

特別参拝をする方は「南門」をくぐって右側にあります。

 

 

• corridor and Lantern


• 回廊と釣燈籠

Kasuga Taisha “main hall” and “Heiden / Buden” are surrounded by a corridor.

春日大社の「本殿」や「幣殿・舞殿」は回廊で囲われています。

The south corridor is 21m east and west centering on the "Nanmon", the east corridor is 37m north and south centering on the "Yougoumon",影向門 the west corridor is 57m north and south,
“Keigamon”慶賀門, “Seijoumon”清浄門 and “Naishimon 内侍門” are lined up.

南回廊は「南門」を中心に東西に21ｍ、東回廊は「影向門」を中心に南北に37ｍ、西回廊は南北57ｍあり「慶賀門」「清浄門」「内侍門」が並んでいます。

 

There are many Lantern  in the corridor.

* The Kasuga Taisha has about 3,000 Lantern.

そして、回廊には多くの釣燈籠があります。

※春日大社全体で約3000基の燈籠がある

 

Setsubun ・ On August 14th and 15th there is an event called “Kasuga Mantourou 春日万燈籠”, and all the fires are lit.

節分・8月14日と15日には「春日万燈籠」という行事があり、全部の燈籠に火が灯されます。

 

This sight is mysterious.

Other highlights include cedar "Shatouno oosugi社頭の大杉" over 800 years old, and "Sunazuri no fuji 砂ずりの藤" where flowers stretch as much as 1 meter and spill on the sand of ground.

他の見所はとしては、樹齢800年以上の杉「社頭の大杉」や、花が1ｍにも伸び地面(砂)にすれる「砂ずりの藤」も見所です。
