「大阪」という名前の由来


大阪

現在の大阪城近くに、もともと大坂という地名がありました。

ここに蓮如上人が石山本願寺を建てて、大坂の名が有名になりました。

この「坂」が明治初期前後に「阪」に変えられ、今に至っています。

The character for saka (slope) was written a bit differently then,

the modern way of writing it came into common use early in the Meiji period.
